My work as a psychotherapist is based on psychodynamic and psychoanalytic principals. This means that the focus of our sessions will be to uncover more of what is happening on an unconscious level. By increasing awareness in this area, the capacity to integrate cut off aspects of the self is heightened. This leads to more freedom, spontaneity and deeper interpersonal connections.

I also take a holistic approach. The mind is not separate from the body, the heart or the spirit. Anxiety can be the result of a stressful circumstance, past trauma or distorted thinking, yet it can also result from digestive difficulties and treatment may therefore include a powerful daily probiotic. Whether the issue is depression or divorce, anger or addiction, transformation occurs when all aspects of the self are considered and supported.

Areas of treatment include, but not limited to:

  • Anxiety
  • LGBTQ issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Interpersonal or intimacy difficulties
  • Food/ Sugar addiction
  • Substance abuse
  • Issues regarding self-esteem and body image
  • Depression
  • Issues related to sexuality and sexual identity
  • Existential or soul-searching issues

Psychotherapy is most effective with one or more sessions per week. Every other week sessions are not recommended, but can be evaluated on case by case basis.

Individual Session: 45 mins

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is a trauma focused therapy designed to help patients heal from symptoms and disturbances caused by traumatic events. During EMDR sessions specific memories are targeted in order to remove any blockages that may be inhibiting healing. This is achieved through sensory tapping that stimulates right and left brain communication. Through this bilateral stimulation the meaning and "charge" of a painful memory is lessened. Memories are not erased or forgotten, but are transformed on an emotional level.

EMDR is used in conjunction with psychotherapy or as a stand alone treatment. Processing sessions will take place after thorough history taking, usually within 3-4 sessions.

EMDR can be effective treatment for traumatic events such as abuse or violence, as well as more pervasive issues such as eating disorders and low self-esteem.

Individual Sessions: 60 minutes
